Connecting your Instagram account

ScoutSocial connects to Instagram using Instagram Business Login. You log in directly with your Instagram account, no Facebook account or linked Facebook Page is required.

Prerequisites

Before connecting, ensure you have:

1. An Instagram Business or Creator account (personal accounts are not supported)
2. Your Instagram login credentials

How to switch to a professional account

If you have a personal Instagram account, switch to Business or Creator:

1. Open Instagram and go to Settings and privacy > Account type and tools
2. Tap Switch to professional account
3. Choose Business or Creator

Connection steps

1. Open the More menu (☰) at the bottom of the left sidebar, click Settings, then expand Social Media Accounts
2. Click Connect a social account, then choose Instagram from the picker dialog
3. You'll be redirected to Instagram to log in
4. Grant the requested permissions (publishing, insights, and comments)
5. You'll be redirected back to ScoutSocial with your account connected

Troubleshooting

• "Account is not a professional account" - Switch to a Business or Creator account in Instagram settings, then reconnect
• Token expired - ScoutSocial monitors connection health and will prompt you to reconnect if a token can no longer be refreshed
