Video types, metadata options, and upload capabilities for YouTube through ScoutSocial.
Supported content types
ScoutSocial supports the following YouTube content types for AI generation:
- Video - A full YouTube video with timestamps and visual cues
- Shorts - A YouTube Short, up to 3 minutes (180 seconds), vertical format
Long-form videos
- Standard YouTube video uploads
- Formats: MP4, MOV, AVI, WMV, FLV, WebM, MKV
- Maximum file size: 256GB (or 12 hours, whichever is less)
- Large video files are uploaded reliably with automatic resume support
YouTube Shorts
- Vertical short-form videos (up to 3 minutes / 180 seconds)
- 9:16 aspect ratio recommended
- ScoutSocial can optionally append the
#Shortstag to improve Shorts shelf discovery
Video metadata
When uploading through ScoutSocial, you can set:
- Title - Up to 100 characters
- Description - Up to 5,000 characters; supports links and timestamps
- Tags - Keywords for search discoverability
- Category - Select from YouTube's content categories (Education, Entertainment, etc.)
- Default language - Set the video language for international audiences
- License - Standard YouTube license or Creative Commons
Thumbnails
- Upload a custom thumbnail image for each video
- Formats: JPEG, PNG
- Recommended resolution: 1280x720 pixels (16:9)
- Maximum file size: 2MB
- ScoutSocial's thumbnail picker lets you choose and upload thumbnails during the publishing flow
Visibility options
- Public - Visible to everyone
- Unlisted - Only accessible via direct link
- Private - Only visible to you
- Scheduled - Set as private with a future publish date/time
Additional options
- Embeddable - Allow other sites to embed the video
- Notify subscribers - Send notification to channel subscribers
- Paid promotion - Disclose paid promotion content
- Altered content - Flag AI-generated or significantly altered content
