Limitations - Facebook
Known limitations when using Facebook through ScoutSocial.
Facebook limitations
Account type
- Pages only - Personal profile posting is not supported via the API (Meta policy)
- Admin/Editor access required - You must have sufficient permissions on the Page
Content restrictions
- No post editing - Once published, posts cannot be edited through the API
- No Groups - Posting to Facebook Groups is not supported
Rate limits
- 200 calls per hour per user token
- Published post limit - Varies by Page size and health score
- ScoutSocial automatically manages these rate limits to keep your posting reliable
Token management
- Page access tokens remain active as long as your Facebook connection is valid
- If you change your Facebook password or revoke ScoutSocial's access, you'll need to reconnect
- ScoutSocial monitors connection health and will prompt you to reconnect if needed
Analytics
- Page insights require at least 100 followers
- Historical data availability depends on your Page age and Meta's data retention
- Some metrics may have a 24-48 hour delay
