AI Generation Tips

How to get better, more relevant results from ScoutSocial's AI content generation.

Getting the best from AI generation

Provide rich context

ScoutSocial's AI performs best when you give it detailed source material:

  • Paste article URLs or blog posts as source text
  • Include key data points or statistics you want mentioned
  • Describe your audience - Who is this post for?
  • Use custom instructions - Add specific directions like "include a question at the end" or "focus on the ROI angle"

Choose the right content type

Each platform supports different content types. Match the type to your goal:

  • Short posts - Quick updates, thoughts, announcements
  • Long-form articles - Thought leadership (LinkedIn)
  • Threads - Multi-part stories or breakdowns (Twitter)
  • Carousel ideas - Step-by-step guides (Instagram)
  • Video scripts - YouTube Shorts or TikTok content

Tune your generation settings

The Create Posts page offers several customization options:

  • Tone - Professional, casual, witty, inspirational, etc.
  • CTA style - Soft, direct, question-based, or no CTA
  • Emojis and hashtags - Enable or disable per your brand style

Use Research & Review

For complex topics or industry analysis, turn on Research & Review. This takes longer (1-2 minutes) but produces more thoroughly researched content with relevant data points and current information.

Edit and humanize

AI-generated content is a starting point, not a final product:

  • Add personal anecdotes or opinions
  • Reference specific experiences
  • Adjust the opening hook - first impressions matter
  • Fine-tune the CTA to match your current campaign

Brand voice consistency

Set up your brand voice in Settings > Brand > Brand Voice before generating. The AI uses your selected voice to match your tone. Include:

  • Sample phrases or language you commonly use
  • Words to avoid
  • Style preferences (e.g., "use first person", "avoid jargon")
