Growth Best Practices

Data-driven strategies for growing your social media audience with ScoutSocial.

Growing your audience

Use suggested posting times

ScoutSocial analyzes your audience's activity patterns and recommends optimal posting times on the Dashboard (Best Time to Post panel) and when scheduling from Create Posts.

  1. Open the Dashboard and review the engagement heatmap
  2. Schedule posts during highlighted peak times
  3. Revisit monthly, audience patterns change with seasons

Track and iterate with Dashboard insights

Check the Intelligence Center and Performance Score panels on your Dashboard weekly to understand what's driving growth:

  • Which content topics drive the most engagement?
  • Which platforms are growing fastest?
  • What posting frequency is optimal?
  • What content types get the most shares and saves?

Act on the recommendations provided, they are based on your actual performance data.

Consistency over virality

  • Post regularly on a predictable schedule
  • 3-5 quality posts per week outperforms 20 mediocre posts
  • Use ScoutSocial's Calendar to plan a week ahead
  • Batch-create content on Create Posts during focused sessions

Engagement drives reach

On most platforms, engagement (comments, shares, saves) signals quality to the algorithm:

  • Ask questions in your posts to encourage comments
  • Respond to comments promptly, especially in the first hour
  • Create shareable content - lists, frameworks, and hot takes get shared
  • Monitor comments via the Dashboard

Test and learn

Compare how different approaches perform:

  • Test different hooks/opening lines on similar content
  • Test posting times (morning vs. evening) using suggested times
  • Test content formats (text vs. image vs. video)
  • Test CTAs (question vs. direct vs. none)

Review results in Post Performance on the Dashboard and adjust based on what the data shows.

Cross-platform growth

  • Share your best content across all connected platforms
  • Each platform has a different audience, even if they overlap
  • Use each platform's strengths (LinkedIn for thought leadership, Instagram for visual storytelling, Twitter for conversations)
