Create Your First AI-Generated Post

Navigate to Create Posts

Click Create Posts in the left sidebar. This is where you create new posts using ScoutSocial's AI-powered content engine.

Step 1: Provide source material

In the main text area, paste or type the content you want the AI to work with. This can be:

• A topic or idea you want to write about
• An article, blog post, or notes to repurpose
• A URL to a source article (the AI will extract and use its content)

The more context you provide, the better the generated output will be.

Step 2: Select your platform

Choose the target platform from the platform selector. Each platform has different formatting rules, character limits, and content types:

• LinkedIn - Posts, articles, carousels, polls
• Twitter/X - Tweets, threads
• Facebook - Posts, stories
• Instagram - Captions, reels, carousels, stories
• TikTok - Video captions, descriptions
• YouTube - Video titles, descriptions, scripts

Only platforms with connected accounts are available for selection. If a platform is grayed out, go to Connect Social Media Accounts to connect it first.

Step 3: Choose a content type

After selecting a platform, pick the content type from the dropdown. The available types change based on the platform you selected. For example, LinkedIn offers "post," "article," and "carousel," while Twitter offers "tweet" and "thread."

Step 4: Select a connected account

If you have multiple accounts connected for the selected platform, choose which account you want to post from using the account selector.

Step 5: Customize generation options

Fine-tune how the AI generates your content using the composer controls:

• AI Generated vs Write Myself - Use the pencil toggle to switch between letting the AI draft the post and writing it yourself
• Research & Review - Toggle the full research and review pipeline on or off (see below)

Content is generated in the language of your prompt automatically. Compliance strictness (how carefully the AI avoids sensitive claims) is governed by your organization's Publish Policies in Settings, not by a per-post control. Emojis and hashtags are added automatically based on the platform and content type, so there is no manual toggle for them.

Research & Review

Turn on the Research & Review toggle to have the AI run its full pipeline: additional web research plus a fact-check and review pass before writing, producing more thorough and better-sourced content. Leaving it off produces a fast draft. Research & Review is available on Professional and above.

Step 6: Generate content

Click the Auto Generate button (the send button in AI Generated mode) to start the AI content engine. You will see a progress indicator as your content is being generated.

A fast draft typically takes 15-30 seconds, while Research & Review takes 1-2 minutes.

Step 7: Review and edit

Once generation is complete, the result appears in the preview panel.

You can:

• Edit the content directly in the content editor dialog
• Regenerate if you want a different version

The editor supports rich formatting and shows a live preview of how the post will look on the target platform.

Step 8: Save, schedule, or post

After you are happy with the content, the footer gives you three actions:

• Save to Draft - Save the post to My Posts for review, scheduling, and publishing (labeled Save & Submit when your organization requires approval)
• Schedule - Set a date and time to publish the post automatically
• Post Now - Publish the post to the selected account immediately

If you want to discard a result and start fresh, use the per-post Discard control.

Once saved, your content appears in My Posts where you can schedule or post it.

Generation preferences

ScoutSocial remembers your last-used generation settings (platform, content type, and preferences) at the organization level. These preferences are automatically applied the next time you open Create Posts, saving you from re-configuring each time.
