Set Up Your Content Calendar
How to use ScoutSocial's content calendar to visualize, schedule, and manage your social media posts across all platforms.
Navigate to the Calendar
Click Calendar in the left sidebar to open the content calendar. The calendar shows all your scheduled, published, and draft content in a visual timeline.
Calendar views
The calendar supports two views:
- Month view - A traditional grid showing each day of the month with content cards for scheduled posts. Each card displays the platform icon, content preview, and posting time.
- Week timeline - A more detailed view showing content slots across a seven-day period, making it easier to spot gaps in your schedule.
Open the Filters panel (via the Filters button) and use the View selector to switch between Month and Week.
Understanding content cards
Each content item on the calendar appears as a color-coded card:
- Posts are labeled with the target platform icon (LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.)
- The card shows a snippet of the content text and the scheduled time
- Status indicators show whether a post is Scheduled or Posted
Filters
Click the Filters toggle in the calendar header to reveal the filter controls. You can filter by account (show only content for a specific connected account), by status (All, Scheduled, or Posted), and by view (Month or Week). By default, all accounts are shown.
Scheduling a post
There are two ways to schedule content from the calendar:
From Create Posts
After generating content on the Create Posts page, choose Schedule and pick a date and time (or accept a suggested optimal time). The post will appear on the calendar at the scheduled slot.
From My Posts
Open the My Posts page, find a draft post, and click Schedule. Set the date and time, and the post will be added to the calendar.
Scheduled posts are automatically published by ScoutSocial at the chosen time.
Drag-and-drop rescheduling
In the month view, you can drag a scheduled post from one day to another to reschedule it. When you drop a post on a new date:
- A Reschedule Dialog appears asking you to confirm the new date and optionally adjust the time
- Click Reschedule to apply the change or Cancel to return the post to its original slot
You can undo the last reschedule action with Ctrl+Z (or Cmd+Z on Mac).
Day detail view
Click on any day in the calendar to open the Day Detail Modal. This shows:
- All content scheduled for that day, grouped by time
- Holiday and observance information for the date (if applicable)
- Quick actions to view a post in My Posts, or unschedule it (edit applies to calendar events)
Timezone handling
All times in the calendar are displayed in your local browser timezone. When you schedule a post, the time you pick is interpreted in your local timezone, so your posts will go out at the correct time regardless of where you are.
Tips for effective scheduling
- Stay consistent - Use the calendar to spot gaps in your posting schedule and fill them with new content
- Use suggested times - When scheduling, ScoutSocial recommends optimal posting times based on your engagement history (see Smart Schedule)
- Plan ahead - Batch-create content on Create Posts and schedule it across the week for a steady posting cadence
- Review before it goes live - Click on any scheduled post in the calendar to preview exactly what will be published
