Understanding the Dashboard

How to use the ScoutSocial analytics dashboard to track engagement, impressions, follower growth, and post performance across all your connected platforms.

Click Dashboard in the left sidebar. The dashboard aggregates performance data from all your connected social media accounts into a single, customizable view.

Your first visit shows ScoutSocial's recommended widget layout. You can change it at any time, see Dashboard for the full customization guide.

Customize your view

The Dashboard is a grid of widgets (tiles) you control:

  1. Click the gear icon (Customize dashboard) in the top-right.
  2. Add or hide widgets from the customize panel.
  3. Drag tiles to reposition them and resize from the corner handle.
  4. Try a layout template (Overview, Content planning, Analytics) if you want a fresh starting point.
  5. Create multiple saved layouts and switch between them from the layout pills in the header.

Changes save automatically. For a complete widget list and template descriptions, see Dashboard.

Key metrics at a glance

The default layout includes a KPI strip with headline metrics for your selected platform and time range:

MetricWhat it measures
FollowersCombined follower or subscriber count
PostsPosts published in the selected period
Impressions / ReachTimes your content was displayed or reached users
LikesTotal likes across posts
CommentsTotal comments across posts
SharesTotal shares across posts

You can also pin any single metric as its own larger widget from the customize panel.

Each KPI compares the current period to the previous one where a change indicator is available.

Filtering your data

Use the filter bar at the top of the dashboard to narrow your view:

  • Platform - Filter by a specific platform (LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.); exactly one platform is in scope at a time
  • Time range - Choose 7, 30, 60, or 90 days
  • Account - If you have multiple accounts connected, select which account to view

Filter changes update all visible widgets immediately.

Widgets you can add

Beyond the default set, popular widgets include:

  • Performance Score - Overall health score across platforms
  • Best Time to Post - Engagement heatmap (see Smart Schedule)
  • Intelligence Center - AI-generated executive brief, key signals, and recommendations (see Insights)
  • Post Performance - Top or underperforming posts
  • Conversations - Recent comments and mentions
  • Mini Calendar - Upcoming scheduled posts
  • AI Credits - Your workspace credit balance (always visible)

Add any of these from the customize panel. Some widgets require specific plan tiers or connected platforms.

Alerts

Dashboard Alerts at the top notify you of important events, such as:

  • A connected account that needs re-authorization
  • Posts that failed to publish
  • Significant drops in engagement

Refreshing data

The dashboard refreshes its data automatically in the background, so there's no manual refresh button to press. ScoutSocial also refreshes post metrics automatically on a regular schedule.

Ask Scouty

You can open Scouty, the in-app AI assistant, and ask questions in plain language, such as engagement by account or a quick performance summary. See Scouty - AI assistant.
