Brand Voice & Guidelines
Define your brand voice and content rules so ScoutSocial's AI generates content that matches your brand identity.
Brand voice & guidelines
Brand guidelines tell ScoutSocial's AI how your content should sound and what it should (or should not) include, so generated content stays on-brand.
Where to set them
Open Settings > Brand > Brand Voice. Pick one of the built-in voice presets or describe your communication style in free text. Your selected voice is used directly during content generation.
There is no separate "Brand Guidelines" panel in the app. Voice, tone, and vocabulary rules live in Brand Voice.
Examples of effective brand voice notes
- "Professional and authoritative, but not stuffy. Use clear language. Avoid buzzwords like 'synergy' and 'disrupt'."
- "Friendly and casual. Use first-person plural ('we'). Humor is welcome when appropriate."
- "Technical and precise. Our audience is developers. Assume they know the basics."
Guidelines the AI follows
ScoutSocial's AI content engine adjusts tone and voice based on your notes and checks output against your brand rules before finalizing.
Key elements the AI considers:
- Tone - Formal vs. casual, serious vs. playful
- Vocabulary - Preferred terminology, words to avoid
- Audience awareness - Technical depth, assumed knowledge level
- Content structure - Preferred post formats, use of hashtags, emoji usage
Tips
- Be specific rather than vague: "professional B2B SaaS tone, no hype" works better than "good tone."
- Mention words or phrases to avoid if they are common in your industry.
- Update your notes when you rebrand or shift audience focus.
