AI Credits

What are AI Credits?

AI Credits are ScoutSocial's unified meter for interactive AI usage. Your workspace shares one pool of credits. Each billable AI action debits credits based on real model cost (tokens used or per-image pricing), not a fixed "one generation = one credit" counter.

You can see your balance on the Plan & Usage page and on the AI Credits tile on the Dashboard.

When AI Credits are used

Credits are debited when you run these actions:

Image generation	Create Posts or My Posts, AI-generated images and diagrams
Scouty chat	Create Posts, Ask Scouty brainstorming chat
Inline rewrite	Create Posts / editor, improve or refine selected text
Brainstorm AI	Brainstorm, generate stickies, cluster ideas, draft posts from a board

Before you start a billable action, ScoutSocial shows an approximate cost (for example, "≈ N AI Credits"). Multi-step runs may reserve credits up front and settle the actual amount when the run finishes.

When AI Credits are not used

These AI features do not debit your credit balance:

• Publishing and scheduling - posting to connected platforms is included in your plan
• Dashboard insights and recommendations - health scores, anomaly detection, and copilot-style suggestions
• Brand Tracker - competitor briefs, comment sentiment, and content ideas
• RSS / content-source enrichment - background processing of feeds in your inbox
• Content moderation checks - automated policy screening
• Video rendering - bundled with your subscription (compute, not LLM-metered)
• Saved prompts - storing and reusing prompt templates does not charge credits; only running generation does

If an action does not show a credit cost pill, it is not metered through AI Credits.

Monthly grant and top-ups

Each billing cycle, your plan includes a cycle grant of AI Credits. The grant refreshes on your billing reset date (shown on Plan & Usage).

If you need more credits before the cycle resets:

1. Open Plan & Usage (from Settings > Workspace & Preferences or the upgrade dialog).
2. In the AI Credits card, click the + (Top up AI Credits) button.
3. Choose a credit pack and complete checkout.

Purchased credits are added to your workspace pool and used after your cycle grant is exhausted.

Note: AI Credit top-ups may be disabled during the beta. The + (Top up AI Credits) button indicates it becomes available after the beta.

Running low or out of credits

When your balance is low, Plan & Usage and the Dashboard AI Credits tile show a warning. If you do not have enough credits for an action, ScoutSocial blocks the run and prompts you to top up or upgrade.

Failed or empty generations do not charge credits; only completed billable work is settled.
