Social Media Accounts
Connect and manage your social media accounts in ScoutSocial, including LinkedIn, Twitter/X, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube.
Social Media Accounts
Use this section to connect your social media accounts to ScoutSocial. Once connected, you can create, schedule, and publish content to these platforms directly from the app.
How to access
- Open the More menu (☰) at the bottom of the left sidebar, then click Settings.
- Expand Social Media Accounts.
You can also jump here from connect prompts elsewhere in the app (for example, on the Dashboard or Create Posts when no platform is linked).
Supported platforms
ScoutSocial supports six social media platforms:
| Platform | OAuth Flow | Key Capabilities |
|---|---|---|
| OAuth 2.0 | Text posts, image posts, article sharing, analytics | |
| Twitter/X | OAuth 2.0 | Tweets, threads, image/video posts, analytics |
| OAuth 2.0 (Instagram Business Login) | Image posts, carousels, Reels, analytics | |
| OAuth 2.0 | Page posts, image/video posts, analytics | |
| TikTok | OAuth 2.0 | Video posts, analytics |
| YouTube | OAuth 2.0 | Video uploads, Shorts, title/description, analytics |
Connecting an account
- Open Settings > Social Media Accounts.
- Find the platform you want to connect.
- Click Connect to start the OAuth authorization flow.
- Sign in on the platform's site and grant ScoutSocial the requested permissions.
- After authorization, you return to ScoutSocial and the account appears as connected.
Managing connected accounts
Each connected account shows:
- Account name and profile information
- Connection status (active, expired, or error)
- Last synced timestamp
You can disconnect an account at any time using the disconnect control on its card.
Account visibility for teammates
On team plans, you control which teammates can see and use each connected account. This is separate from the platform's own permissions.
- Admins and owners always see and can use every connected account. Visibility only affects teammates with the Member role.
- New connections are hidden from Members by default. When you connect an account, the Connect a social media account dialog shows a checkbox: "Let teammates with the Member role see and use the account you connect." Leave it unchecked to keep the account private to admins and to you, or check it to share it with Members right away.
- Change it any time. Open an account's actions menu (the button on its card) and choose Show to Members or Hide from Members.
- Who can change visibility: an org admin or owner, or the teammate who connected the account. Other Members do not see the toggle.
A hidden account does not appear for Members anywhere they would pick an account to post to.
The Manage access item in the same actions menu is different: it opens the platform's own permissions page (on the platform's website), where you can review or revoke ScoutSocial's access to your account.
These controls appear only on plans that include team members.
Multiple accounts per platform
You can connect as many accounts as you like for the same platform. There is no per-platform limit — your plan sets a single total number of connected accounts, and you can spend those slots however you want (for example, all of them on Facebook). When creating content, you select which specific account to post to.
Plan and account limits
Every plan includes all supported platforms. The only limit is the total number of connected accounts. Use Plan & Usage to see how many accounts your plan includes, how many you have used, and to upgrade if you need more.
Token refresh
ScoutSocial automatically refreshes OAuth tokens in the background to keep all connected accounts active. If a token cannot be refreshed (for example, if you revoked access on the platform side), the account status will change to indicate an error and you will need to reconnect.
Troubleshooting
If a platform connection shows an error:
- Try disconnecting and reconnecting the account.
- Make sure you have the required permissions on the social platform (e.g., admin access to a Facebook Page).
- Check that your browser allows popups for the OAuth redirect.
- See Platform Connections FAQ for more details.
