Image Editing

Crop, adjust, filter, resize, annotate, and watermark your images right in the browser before publishing.

What is Image Editing?

Image Editing is a built-in editor for touching up your images without leaving ScoutSocial. You can crop and rotate, adjust brightness and color, apply filters, resize, add text or shapes, and place a watermark. The whole editor runs in your browser, so no image is uploaded to a separate service while you work.

Editing is non-destructive. Your original image is always preserved, and saving your changes creates a new media asset through the normal upload pipeline. If you save without making any real changes, ScoutSocial detects that the result is identical and does not create a duplicate.

How to access it

There are two entry points:

  • Media Assets > Edit - Open the context menu on any image asset in the Media Assets grid and choose Edit. The saved copy lands in the same folder as the original.
  • Create Posts composer - When you attach an image to a post, you can open the editor on that attachment. The saved copy is added as a new asset.

The editor opens in a full-screen dialog with a top bar, a left tab rail, and a tools area.

Tools

The editor has six tabs.

Adjust

Crop, rotate, and flip your image. The Crop tool includes preset aspect ratios so you can quickly fit a target format.

Finetune

Adjust the image's appearance: brightness, contrast, and HSV (hue, saturation, value), along with related controls such as warmth and blur.

Filters

Apply preset photo filters to change the overall look of the image in one step.

Resize

Change the image's pixel dimensions by entering a new width and height.

Annotate

Add text and shapes on top of the image, including a pen for freehand drawing. You can set the font, size, and color of text you add.

Watermark

Add a watermark to the image to brand or protect it.

Saving

When you save, a Save as dialog lets you set the filename and choose the output format (PNG, JPEG, or WebP). ScoutSocial then uploads the result as a new media asset:

  • The original asset is never overwritten.
  • If a file with the same name already exists in the destination folder, ScoutSocial automatically adds a numeric suffix so the save does not fail.
  • If your edited image is byte-identical to an existing asset in that folder, nothing new is saved and you are told that no changes were detected.

Availability

Image Editing is enabled for all plans, including free and trial.

Tips

  • Because every save creates a new asset, you can experiment freely without worrying about losing the original.
  • Choose JPEG or WebP in the Save as dialog when you want a smaller file, and PNG when you need transparency or maximum quality.
  • If you only need to test small edits, remember that a save with no real changes will not clutter your library with duplicates.
