Turn one brief into a connected series of post ideas laid out as cards on the Brainstorm canvas, then commit them to drafts in My Posts.

What is AI Storyboard?

AI Storyboard is an AI mode inside Brainstorm (the whiteboard). Instead of a single post, you give it one story idea and it generates a connected series of posts, laid out on the canvas as a row of linked cards that flow from beginning to end. Each card holds a full post: a caption, hashtags, and an image concept. You can edit any card directly on the board, then commit the whole series to your drafts in My Posts in one step.

It is the fastest way to turn a bigger narrative (a launch story, a lesson series, a customer journey) into a batch of ready-to-refine drafts that hang together as a sequence.

How to access it

AI Storyboard lives on the Brainstorm dashboard. Navigate to Brainstorm in the left sidebar.

On the Brainstorm home screen you will see the "What are we building?" composer. To switch it into storyboard mode:

Click the film icon in the composer toolbar. When it is highlighted (teal), AI Storyboard is on. Its tooltip reads "AI Storyboard on." Click it again to return to a blank whiteboard.
With storyboard mode on, the composer placeholder changes to prompt you for a story, for example: "Describe your story, or paste a website link... e.g. 'Our company, 6 posts'".

How it works

1. Write a story brief

Type your story idea into the composer. A few words is enough to start (the button stays disabled until you have typed at least 4 characters). You can also:

Paste a website link as the brief. The AI reads that page and uses it to ground the story.
Use voice input. When the composer is empty, the primary button is a microphone (Whisper dictation). Speak your brief and it is transcribed into the composer.
Use a suggestion chip. The chips below the composer (for example "Garage to launch" or "A lesson series") prefill a ready-made brief you can run as-is or tweak.

The brief itself can hint at the platform and length. If you mention a platform (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, X/Twitter) and a post count (for example "6 posts"), those are parsed from the text. If you do not, it defaults to LinkedIn and 5 posts (counts are clamped to a range of 3 to 10).

2. Generate the board

Press Enter or click the Set up storyboard button (the arrow-up button ). ScoutSocial creates a new board titled from your brief, opens it, and generates the storyboard directly on the canvas (no extra dialog).

The result is laid out as a titled row of connected cards, one per post, joined by arrows so the sequence reads left to right. A toast confirms when it is ready, for example: "Storyboard ready: 5 posts. Edit on the board, then create drafts."

3. Edit individual cards

Each card is fully editable before you commit. Select a single uncommitted storyboard card and a small edit popover opens (titled "Edit Post 2/5", for example) where you can change:

Caption - the full post text (the on-card preview may be truncated, but the full caption is what commits)
Hashtags
Image concept

Click Save to apply your edits to that card. You can rearrange, tweak, and refine as many cards as you like.

4. Commit the series to drafts

When the storyboard is ready, a floating Create N drafts button appears at the bottom of the canvas. Click it to save every card in the series as a draft post.

The posts are saved as plain drafts (no schedule attached), so they land in the Draft column of My Posts. A toast confirms, for example: "Created 5 drafts in My Posts." From there you can refine each one further and schedule them when you are ready.

The in-board AI story button

If you are already inside a board, you do not have to start from the dashboard. The canvas toolbar includes an AI story action that opens a setup dialog with the same options: a story brief field, a platform selector, a Number of posts field (3 to 10), and an optional Brand voice field. Click Generate storyboard to lay a new arc onto the current board.

Availability

AI Storyboard is part of Brainstorm. It is available on all paid tiers, including Starter, and on Professional, Business, and Enterprise. Without an eligible plan, the composer shows a Pro badge and prompts you to upgrade.

Running a storyboard uses the same AI helpers as the rest of Brainstorm, so each generation debits your AI Credits balance.

Tips

Mention the platform and post count right in your brief (for example "8 posts for Instagram") to skip the defaults.
Paste a link to your product page or about page as the brief when you want the story grounded in real details rather than invented ones.
Edit the cards before committing. The caption you save on the card is exactly what becomes the draft, so shaping it on the board saves a round trip through My Posts.
Commit only when the arc reads the way you want. The drafts land unscheduled, so you stay in control of when each post goes out.
